historySeptember 1974: Montessori teacher Cynthia Leahy holds the first Montessori preschool class between San Jose and Berkeley in a rented classroom at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fremont, CA.

What started in that rented Sunday school classroom has grown to over 6 locations throughout the East Bay. Today we have overseen the education of more then 5,000 children. The Schools that began with two women in a rented classroom now employ over 100 people and care for more than 500 students daily.

In 1994, with an increasing demand for quality Montessori education in Mission San Jose, the Montessori School of Fremont moved to it's current location at 155 Washington Boulevard. With the additional space the school grew to include an Elementary program. Today the Montessori School of Fremont hosts six preschool, and both lower and upper elementary classes. We are Fremont's most complete and prestigious Montessori School.

The children in the photo above are now in their forties. They include a physician, two attorneys, six engineers, a real estate executive and a college professor.
